Friends, let’s be real… a new business needs all the help it can get. Today, I want to tell you about ‘the power of one’ and how it can take your fledgling business to a whole new level. Here’s what happened to me…
Back in the UK, I ran a successful training business in London. I was keen as mustard, trained and primed for the deluge of clients as they walked towards their workplaces in the morning, or left their offices in the afternoon. Of course, the passing trade was huge and my studio was right at the epi-centre of it. For 3 years, the gym ticked over, neither a roaring success nor a total wipe-out.
I looked after each client as if they were my own children but it wasn’t enough… I badly needed someone – just one person – to believe in me and so attract others.
One day, a highly successful lawyer walked in, joined and set to with his fitness regime. In about 6-8 weeks Bernard had lost a lot of fat. Ecstatic, he started receiving compliments and queries from his law partner, colleagues and clients and after 2 months those same people began to drift in… some mentioning his name, some not.
It was clear to me that here was the Power of One, working.
Three months later, his wife joined. On account of this one person, my clientele grew and the business expanded; referral by referral. And when Saroj and I left England for Perth to be with family, Bernard’s kind words moved me. He had placed his trust in me… the only difference was that he happened to have ‘connections’. Believe in the power of one – it’s real.
